| Do you service sewing machines? | All Brands Sewing Center no longer has a service technician, and we stopped service all together in 2024. Not to worry - there are other shops around Richmond that service machines. Tidewater Sew-Vac off West Broad St (all makes and models), Bobbin and Bolt off Deep Rock Rd (Bernina), Quilter's Corner (at their Midlothian location - Baby Lock, Brother, Juki), and All Things New Sewing & Service in Midlothian (vintage and other models), are ones we send people to, depending on the machine. These shops are here to help, just look them up and give them a call when you need your machine tuned up!
| | What kind of fabric do you sell? | Mainly 100% "quilting" cotton (Riley Blake, Moda, and Figo by Northcott are the majority of what we carry), with batik rayon, canvas, and linen blends mixed in. We do not have lace, trims, buttons, silks, faux fur, or heavyweight denim. Knit fabric is a work in progress!
| | Do you teach kid's camps? | We do not offer kid's camps or classes that teach children to sew. Our minimum age for a class is eighteen years old. Sew Fun (off of Parham Rd) and All Things New Sewing and Service (in Midlothian) are good resources for classes for those under eighteen.
| | Do you offer private sewing lessons? | We do not offer private lessons, but you may call us (804-270-1882) for referrals. Our classes are in groups (no larger than 8-10 people) and project based. We do have a Begin to Sew class about once a month on a Saturday, from 10 am - 1 pm. It is $75 and everything is provided - the machine, notions, and fabric. You will learn the basics of using a mechanical sewing machine, learn different sewing terminology, and leave with a finished project (a mug rug). Check out all of our classes HERE!
| | Do you offer alterations or machine embroidery services? | While we do not offer those services here, there are many different alterations shops around Richmond. Please call us (804-270-1882) for referrals for machine embroidery - we're happy to point you in the right direction!
