Beginner Applique Sewing Class!
She will teach you how to transfer a design onto fusible web, “picture frame”, adhere it to fabric and machine appliqué using a blanket stitch. You will learn how to appliqué a simple block without seeing where you started and stopped your stitch in addition to a more complex appliqué that will be layered. Karen will also talk about fabric selections and color that will enhance the focus of the appliqué.
She will give you all kinds of ideas on where and how appliqués can be used.
bring your sewing machine in good working order and knowledge on how to use it
- make sure your machine has a blanket stitch or zigzag for the applique
- including power cord, foot control, etc
- usual sewing notions (snips, pins, clips, marking pens, etc)
- any dark thread
- needles
Your choice of one of Karen’s applique patterns which will be available during class time.
Karen will provide a practice piece of fabric with simple appliques that the student can practice on during the class.
