Sewing Pattern Workshop



Please bring your own lunch or a snack!

We will learn:
1. How patterns differ
2. How to read, cut, and alter sewing patterns
3. What the heck all those symbols and terms mean
4. How to modify for your best fit and the correct size
5. How to choose the correct fabric
6. How to approach pattern layout
7. Bring a pattern that you gave up on!

SUPPLY LIST:
Must haves - 
1. A sewing pattern of your choice! 
      - some recommendations: 
         - Any pattern by Sonya Philips - 100 Acts of Sewing
         - Tamarack Jacket - not quilted-unlined, a bit more fitted, no collar, shorter
         - Ilford Jacket - very roomy, optional buttons, has collar
         - Remy Shirt pattern (there's a class for this one!) - raglan sleeve, lovely to wear
         - Any of the "big" pattern companies: Simplicity, McCalls, Butterick, etc. 
         - Any of the "indy" pattern companies
         - An old pattern you want to learn
2. note paper and a pencil
3. trace paper and tape
4. fine sharpie pen
5. ruler with edge that you can mark against

Optional:
- fashion French curve ruler

No sewing tools/machine/fabrics will be needed. However, if you have fabric, bring it along! Let's check it out to make sure it is the best fit for your chosen pattern.
